Welcome!
Welcome to the campaign page for City Councillor Jenny Gerbasi.
A Note From Jenny
Updated: October 26th, 2006
I am so honoured to have been re-elected as the Councillor for Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry with close to 75% of the votes! As your humble representative for the next four years, I pledge to continue to speak out on the issues that matter to many Winnipeggers.
I would like to thank each and every person who took the time to vote or participate in anyway in the civic democratic process. I hope over the next four years you will continue to keep informed and involved in city issues. I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood!
Speaking out for Fort Rouge/East Fort Garry
As our City Councilor Jenny has proven to be a powerful advocate for the people of Fort Rouge and East Fort Garry. She made sure that our issues were front and centre whether she was at City Hall or in the media.
Jenny’s Record Speaks for Itself
Jenny has been a driving force in revitalizing Winnipeg and in the many community initiatives happening in Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry. She has been a leader in the successful fight for renewal of inner city housing agreements and the downtown revitalization through Centre Venture. During Jenny’s term as City Councilor we have seen improved housing values in urban neighbourhoods in sharp contrast to the arson problem of seven years ago.
Advocating for Seniors and People with Disabilities
Jenny has worked tirelessly to ensure accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities. She fought increases in handi-transit fees and worked hard to save citizen committees. She recently received a well deserved award from the Manitoba League for People with Disabilities to recognize her commitment.
Strong Communities... Safe Communities
As a councilor for this area Jenny has worked to ensure our neighbourhoods are safe. She has created a Committee for Safety and started a domestic violence project that is now a province-wide program. She has been an outspoken advocate for rapid transit/green transportation.
In fact, she is on the honour roll of the Canadian Institute for business and the Environment. Jenny played an important role in the Osborne Safeway Planning Process and the Osborne Village Neighbourhood Plan.
A Passionate Advocate
As a community nurse Jenny was a passionate advocate for her patients. As a community advocate she made a name for herself as a fighter and a tireless worker. She believes in open leadership. Jenny has always been guided by the principles of fairness and compassion.
